Because 72SOLD is an official NFL/Arizona Cardinals partner, Teresa and I were fortunate enough to be able to attend the Super Bowl this year as guests of the National Football League.
Besides being a great game, it was also a masterpiece of organization and precision. This year’s game set a couple of new records as well, so I thought it would be fun to share those along with some other trivia that you can share with family and friends.
2024 Records
This year’s Super Bowl was watched by about 123 million people in the U.S., making it the most watched broadcast since the 1969 Moon landing.
The Super Bowl continues its reign as the most expensive television ad time. This year businesses shelled out roughly $7 million for a 30 second spot.
Big Game Trivia
Restriction
The NFL restricts the use of the phrase “Super Bowl” for advertising purposes. Companies come up with creative alternatives, the most popular one being “The Big Game.”
Appearances
The Patriots have made the most Super Bowl appearances of any team with a whopping 11 trips to the Big Game, first in 1985 and last in 2019.
Comeback
In Super Bowl LI, the Patriots made the greatest comeback in Big Game history, erasing a 28–3 third quarter deficit to win in the first Super Bowl to be decided in overtime.
Numerals
Because the football season runs into two calendar years, Roman numerals are used to identify each Super Bowl, instead of the year when it is played.
Q: An NFL game has four 15-minute quarters, which typically takes about three hours to watch from start to finish. How much time on average is the football actually in play on the field in an NFL game?

Greg’s personal Super Bowl trivia: The morning of the game Teresa and I ordered breakfast by room service because we didn’t want to fight the crowds at the hotel restaurant. It was then that we discovered a pretty startling financial reality. Even though we both just wanted a bowl of oatmeal, room service notified us that the minimum order was $100. Up until then, I had never eaten a $50 bowl of oatmeal. Have you?
The “kicker”? The oatmeal was delivered in a brown paper bag in two Styrofoam cups with plastic utensils!
