He was attacked by a bear. Once crash-landed a plane on a desolate Atlantic island. Slept in a treehouse above crocodile-infested waters while motorcycling across Africa. And along the way, Greg Hague reshaped the way America buys and sells homes.
Greg sold his first home at 18, working for his dad’s firm during college and law school breaks. By 30, he had founded and built one of Cincinnati’s largest traditional real estate companies, Heritage House. But the sky-high 16% mortgage rates of 1980 taught him something no classroom ever could: if you're going to survive in business, you’d better be willing to reinvent.
So he did. Again and again.
In 1981 he moved to Scottsdale, began selling real estate, and was recognized two years later as the #1 top-selling agent in the market. Then in 1988, Greg founded WHY USA, a real estate company with a radical twist; while his agents marketed their listings the normal way, they also gave sellers the option to host their own open houses, whenever and as often as they liked. If an interested buyer came through, the listing agent would negotiate a sale and represent the seller through closing, charging just $990 instead of a percentage commission. Industry leaders scoffed. Consumers cheered. Within three years, WHY USA had grown to over 100 franchised offices and 4,000 agents nationwide. Greg sold the company for millions in 1992.
Next, Greg left his mark on the luxury home market.
Greg founded Hague Partners, focused on selling high-end homes, and developed a 29-day, 22-step luxury home sale plan, so successful it was featured in Forbes and enabled Greg to be ranked by Realtor Magazine as the #19 top-selling agent in America and #1 in his home state of Arizona. But his biggest industry disruption came with 72SOLD, a truly ground-breaking program that flipped the traditional home sale model on its head.
Where others said ‘list and wait,’ Greg said, ‘create perceived early-access opportunity’ to generate higher offers from buyers. While traditional agents chased buyers, Greg's agents attracted them in droves. Independent studies showed homes sold the 72SOLD way fetched significantly higher prices. An MLS study published in 2025 showed that the last 11,600 sellers who used the 72SOLD program had a median sale price 5.8% higher than other local sales.
Exclusivity. Urgency. Each showing positioned as a buyer opportunity. The result? National expansion. 72SOLD quickly became the #1 Inc 5000 fastest-growing real estate firm in the western U.S. Greg received Innovator of the Year and Most Creative Company awards.
That’s not reinvention. That’s revolution.
But Greg’s story isn’t confined to contracts and commissions. He’s a licensed attorney who scored #1 on the Arizona bar exam at age 60. He founded his own law firm, was named Professor of the Year as a law school adjunct, and was honored among Arizona’s Top 50 Pro Bono Attorneys.
He’s a bestselling Amazon author, motivational speaker on the difference between being educated and being smart, and founder of Savvy Dad, a blog-turned-movement celebrating life lessons from remarkable fathers, shared by the sons and daughters who lived them. He helped raise millions for the Phoenix Rescue Mission and has partnered with and made charitable contributions on behalf of MLB's Arizona Diamondbacks and NFL's Arizona Cardinals.
You’ll find Greg teaching home selling strategy to thousands of agents nationwide while launching consumer-friendly ventures like Homes2X, a company that buys homes, lets sellers choose their closing date, and returns resale profits. He also founded Invisible Seller, a company that enables sellers to privately identify the best buyers for their home using AI, avoiding a public, online listing. Or on the golf course, in a never-ending effort to beat his wife, Teresa—usually without success
Greg splits his time between homes in Paradise Valley and Sedona. He’s the proud father of three sons, grandfather of eight, and mentor to a nephew who’s become like a fourth son.
He’s been a pilot, a motorcyclist, a tree-dweller, a bear survivor, a market disruptor. But at his core?
Greg Hague is a man who sees the world not as it is—but as it could be—and then builds the bridge to take us there.
